When Should I Book a Newborn Session?

The best time to book your newborn session would be during your third trimester of pregnancy. Here's why:

• Time flies! And your baby will grow and change quickly. Which is why its so important to capture them when they're tiny. Before you know it, they'll be packing on lbs, sleeping longer stretches, and holding their head up! By booking ahead of time you are securing your session with me within that desired time frame.
• I cannot always guarantee a specific date or accommodate last minute sessions unless you are officially booked. If you wait to book until after your baby is born, there is a risk I may not be available.
• Planning and preparation takes a lot of time for the photographer prior to the newborn session. Especially with posed newborn photography. I may need to order special props, specific wrap colours, tiebacks, etc. which takes time to ship and deliver. I also assist families with session preparation and planning which also takes time for both parties involved.
• The booking process is more productive and generally more enjoyable during pregnancy when you are not responsible for that tiny human yet, you're still able to get some sleep (hopefully) and your mind is clearer (just wait until that baby comes - you'll be so busy keeping track of all the baby poops, pees and feedings that everything will start to feel hazy and you may even forget what day of the week it is! Trust me, booking during pregnancy is MUCH easier and enjoyable. You'll thank me later (if you remember, ha!).

When Should I Book a Cake Smash Session?

I always recommend cake smash sessions be booked 2 months in advance or when your baby is around 10 months old. I know it seems CRUEL to even think about your wee baby turning one already, but there is a lot of prep that goes into cake smash sessions. So the more time we have to plan, the better! Not to worry if you dropped the ball and need to book last minute... I have put together some GORGEOUS cake smash sets with two days notice. So it IS possible, but not recommended if you want a personalized set and custom cake. I typically suggest the session date to be about 3 weeks before their first birthday so you have the cake smash images to share on social media if that's your thing!

When Should I Book Wedding Photography?

Depending on how many hours of coverage you'd like on your wedding day, I suggest booking at least 6-12 months before the wedding date. If you are eloping and/or just need a few hours of coverage, that can typically be accommodated last minute. If you'd like 6 hours or more of coverage for your wedding day I suggest booking as soon as possible and early into your engagement. I offer complimentary engagement photos for wedding packages that include 4 hours or more of coverage which are great for save the dates, wedding invitations and even decor for showers, stag and does and more. So booking your wedding date early ensures you have the engagement photos early too.
